As a 10 year old, LaShawn was so ravenous about pets, that her family purchased her a fish, a guinea pig, a bunny rabbit and a couple of dogs. Her love for animals started at a young age. When she was 11 years old her pet bunny had some how made it out of her suite (cage), and LaShawn noticed a limp. It didn't sit well with LaShawn, so she took matters into her own hands. She took a popsicle stick and used scissors to cut it into thirds and cut one of the sticks the long way in half. She used a bandaid and tried to make a splint to heal her bunny's leg. After her fragile bunny passed away, she vowed to work where pets were kept safe, healthy and comfortable.
